... a short narrative

Thomas was captivated by the stories, imagery and sound of music and the cinema from a very early age. With a love for rhythm and improvisation, he was attracted to the freedom jazz music offered and at 16 he studied drums with jazz legend Tony Williams. Originally from New York, he moved to Boston playing drums with local jazz groups in town. He moved to NYC, playing drums exclusively at that time, where he embraced that unique musical period, working with New York studio legends and many of the top musicians, arrangers, engineers and studios. He played on dozens of commercials and studio recordings, along with myriad live jazz and pop performances, developing relationships with musicians, writers and producers along the way. This soon led to writing opportunities of his own. Starting his own music production group, Airplay, he composed music for more than 400 television ad campaigns which led to his being hired to compose music for film and television projects. With a passion for the orchestra and storytelling incorporating many styles of music, film composition followed. He's composed music for films and documentaries around the world: USA, Italy, France, India, Dubai, Russia, China, The Netherlands, even Malta. He's won an NYU Film Composer award along with other nominations, having scored numerous award-winning films which have appeared in the theatre and on television, in addition to numerous festivals, including Sundance, NY Film Fest, and Toronto. He is currently revising the book, music and lyrics for a new musical.
